Falling asleep

Reading the papers can be a little tiring... even for Little Ones.

Sleep baby sleep zzz zzz

Dancing Queen

Well, she's more like a dancing princess!

She can now...
... twist,
... shake,
... swing (arms),
... turn (round and round, anticlockwise only),
... turn arms (like driving a car),
... move arms more (like running on the spot).

She's gettin' jiggy with it!

Mobile Phone Review

Here's the Little One's Mobile Phone.

Dimensions: Same as the Nokia 3330.
Looks: Very, very similar to the Nokia 3330.
Weight: Lighter than the Nokia 3330 (see battery note)
Battery Life: Battery in afterlife.

Screen : This is where the phone surpasses the Nokia's original monochrome screen. The screen is a beautiful 160x160, true colour, photo realistic view. Currently, you can see the screen saver mode with a picture of Samantha.
Screen modes: Screen saver only.

Performance: It's limitess battery supply allows for Little Ones to chat endlessly in baby speak. English is also used sometimes.

Conclusion: This is Samantha's phone and she knows how to use it! It's a must have for Little One communications. Fits nicely in her Mamy Poko or Enfa backpack as well. It receives our highest rating of "Highly Recommended".

K

Vocabulary at 17 months

Checkpoint 17 months:
Here's a list of the recognizable words she uses:
  1. Oh!
  2. ma
  3. mommom
  4. deedee (while screaming, wanting something)
  5. paa
  6. eye-tsch (light)
  7. atch (watch)
  8. car (car)
  9. bar (sounds like pa, but I think she means Barney)
  10. Mo (Elmo!)
  11. mmm (with a nod) indicating agreement
  12. sssst (stir. normally used when she's watching us prepare her formula)
  13. por
  14. mermaid (yup.. from her Ladybird Little Mermaid storybook)
  15. bor (ball)
  16. bye (as in bye bye... usually accompanied with a wave)
  17. no more (with hands opened up)
  18. and countless others.. which she sometimes randomly cycles through and sometimes do really sound like real words, in English, Cantonese or even Mandarin!
She does recognize a lot of items and can point them out, when we play the "Where is..." game!

Ahhh.. time to build a-word-a-day for Little Ones :)

17 months! She's almost 1.5 years old. Time indeed flies.

Do you know Pocoyo?
Pocoyo means 'little me'. The show is on Disney Playhouse Channel. It's such a great little children's show.

Samantha is beginning to like this series.
He's also almost as cute as the Little One :)

I like to put my hands up when dancing!

Hej Kids at Ikea

An early start to the day. Today, Samantha had discovered a new use for the water scoop. How does she look?

It was such a hot, hot day today. Almost felt like a sauna in the house. Almost unbearable. Almost going insane. So we decided to go to somewhere much cooler. Where things are a cool blue and yellow. Yup, we went to Sweden. Well.. the local slice of Sweden.

Ikea at Ikano Power Center is a really nice place. It was really crowded today as it was a holiday weekend (Agung's Birthday weekend). We managed to get seated a the cafeteria and had some snacks.

Hej Kids :)
Swedish meatballs and potatoes.. yummy!

I can eat by myself now (and make less of a mess)

These guys have thought of everything!

Well, these guys at Ikea have thought about almost everything. I wonder why doesn't every other place have such things. It says much about the thought process being put into the little details such as

... a children's play area (with seating around it for the parents or guardians to look over the kids while have a meal.

... children's utensils and baby bottle heating facilities and even a microwave for heating baby food.

... a mother's area for more feeding privacy.

... Baby care rooms! Why doesn't every shopping complex put emphasis on baby care rooms. They must realise that parents (almost everyone) do go shopping with their kids/toddlers/babies. And they didn't attached it exclusively to the Ladies room. There are fathers who have to change the little ones too.

... and a whole bunch of other things, like paper and pencil next to the public phones (so that you can take down your cab number or other details), separate recycling bins and clean rest rooms.

I wonder how Sweden would be like. Smaland?

It would be a nice trip for all of us.

Ooooo...

Here's one of her favourite expressions, the "Oooo" It is accompanied by a soft "Oooo" as well. ;)
Often used when, she had discovered something new, saw something fall down or wanted to tell someone something.

Oooo!

Peek-a-boo!
Lately, she's learning to frown. *sigh*
Must have picked it up from us.

The Little Photoshoot

Hello Samantha,
Here's a story about your photoshoot.

Mother and Daughter on a Happy Mother's Day

We went to the Anakku store at The Curve and they had a promotion on a baby photoshoot by De One studios. How appropriate, I thought. The Little One by De One?

Anyways, it's Mother's Day weekend and there's no better way than to preserve the memories in a photoshoot. There was a small studio corner setup with props and lighting at the front corner of the store.

We had waited in line to get the chance to participate. Well, RM38 for 4x4R shots. This package was available when we made any purchase within the store. Smart business.

It turns out that you (Samantha) likes to be behind the camera more than in front of it! Getting you to look at the camera (and not reaching for it) was a challenge enough, not to mention trying to make you pose. Getting you into the costume was easy enough, but posing for the camera was another matter.

By the time we (and the tiring photographer) we able to get some shots off, there was already a building crowd behind us, looking at the antics we were engrossed in trying to get your attention.

The photographer had a really cool setup, with a Nikon D70s. Click click click. Snap snap snap. Nice. Daddy wonders when he'll get his studio setup done ;) We'll just settle for the trusty A620 for now.

About 30 shots later, we viewed the results.

Where's the Photoshoot results?
Well, here are some of the shots. Yes, we did buy more pictures :p

The world is purple. Well mostly.

The world is slowly turning purple. The Little One's favourite now is Barney, the purple dinosaur. Barney has powers, strong powers that somehow affect the little ones and the children in all of us.Yes, he's purple

Barney goes back to the dance mat

Recently we added the children's channel on Astro (our satellite TV). We now have (or are at the mercy of)... Bob the Builder, Barney, Elmo's World, Peanut, Butter and Jelly Otter (with their Noodle Dance!).

Barney is a dinosaur from our imagination....

Noodle.. do the noodle.
Noodle.. do the noodle dance!

Bob the builder
Can he fix it?
Bob the builder
Yes he can!

OMG.

Birthday party updates in January available!

Check out her birthday party stories in the January archives!

We've got so many pictures to manage! Picasa from Google helps a lot! Photo organization, basic fixes, tuning and effects, Picasa does it all! It even allows upload to the blog! Get Picasa from the button link above.

I highly recommend it! Especially for shutterbugs and those with digital cameras! Our Canon Powershot A620 takes some amazing quality pics. I'll write a review on it soon as well.

P.S. We just got back from Bali with over 1300 photos and videos. This software makes it easy to sort and organize. Look for the Bali update soon!

K, from the Little One Team.
Have a great week ahead and keep on shooting!
