Counting down to 2006

We were at Kai Ma's place for the New Year Eve dinner!

Excellent spaghetti with tuna sauce! and the turkey was good too!

Here's something you won't see very often, or even in the next year.. Samantha with hair! (ok ok.. it's a wig)

Here's another skill she picked up today. How to drink from a straw! She just had to have some. A few squeak of the lips to show her how and she picked up this skill! muak!

There should be newer photos posted here and the posts should be more frequent. Yeah we did have some trouble, our faithful little Canon IxusV decided to head to the digital camera nirvana. It was soon followed by our modem. This was the cause of some of the technical glitches we experienced.

Looking back at 2005, there's been plenty of memories.
Looking forward to 2006, there'll be lots to do and more to explore!

Samantha will turn 1 within the next two weeks. What a ride it has been. It's almost a year now and she's shown us so much that she can do. It's literally a miracle to have her.

Samantha, we love you.

"Samantha is a good girl.. Listen to mommy and daddy..." is our little bedtime saying.. hoping that she'll pick it up in her subconscious mind! :)

Anyways, Merry Christmas! and a Happy New Year and love to all! Especially to our most dedicated reader of the blog... all the way London!

All I want for Christmas is peace of mind ;)

The Little Artist

Today, we had dinner with my dad. He's going back to HK the following day. He was with us for Christmas and Samantha got to spend some time with her yeh yeh.

During the dinner she noticed her cousin Ryan's toy. It's a doodle thingy-ma-jig. Actually it was a Fisher Price Doodle Pro. What's that? Take a look.

She's a pro!.. hmmm hmmm.. (draw.. draw..) hmmm hmmm.. (draw.. draw...)

Uhh.. uhh.. eerrhh.. (I'm so excited!!!)

Then.. we apply the finishing touches..

The artist and her masterpiece!

A closer look! What do you see?

Seeing that she loved it so much, we went to Toys R Us to look for this toy. Now she has a new toy! Samantha chose red from the few on display. Thanks Winnie!

Merry Christmas!

"Jingle bells
Jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh

Jingle bells
Jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh!"

To the tune of Elmo World's closing song!.. It's the same tune ;)

Merry Christmas to all

Bye..

Kelvin came back for lunch today. I was dressing Samantha up after she wet her clothes. When Kelvin finished his lunch and he opened the front door, he say bye-bye to Samantha. Then Samantha replied 'Byeee ..'. Both of us were shocked and looked at her for at least 10 seconds. Then we look at each other and started to smile. Hehe..

We tested her again, just that this time she didnt say anything... hmm..
Anyway, it's another milestone for her.

Sammi's 1st Bukit Tinggi trip...

Today we are all set for a trip to Bukit Tinggi, with grandma, and a full load of baby stuff in our proton wira.. haha..

Samantha had a full stomach before heading to the hills.. here, she is playing with her rubber duckies after the meal. She had a nice nap as well all the way to the BT. 3 hours all together.. wow!! she must have been very tired :p

We were afraid that there might be mosquitoes in the area when we parked our car for a small picnic. Samantha was still sleeping and didn't want to wake up when we tried to wake her... many thanks to mosquito net which managed to keep her from insect bites..

After she had good sleep, she started to pose for the camera...

What a happy baby !!! (click for a bigger picture!)

I think she was very amazed with the surroundings..
she was relaxed all time.. :p

Here's some photos we took with her..
Enjoy !!

Realised Samantha likes to bite the tail of her doggie while crawling around her compound. Haha..
Doesn't she look like a big C A T with a big RED mouse ?

Check out how she is carrying her doggie ?

Anyway, the doggie gets cleaned every 2-3 days. :p

Cute doll

11 Months and counting!

Today, Samantha is 11 months old!

Check out her little counter at the top of the page today (thanks to Lilypie)!

We've been busy for the last couple of weeks, as you can probably see from the date of this update compared to the previous entry. Well, the update IS here!

There have been plenty of developments in the life of the little one.

So far, in these 2 weeks, she...
... learned to climb up on to her Fisher Price activity table play station thingy.
... learned to clap her hands when we say "Clap your hands!" ;)
... learned to Gong Xi Gong Xi with both hands. Good practice for the coming CNY! hehe.. (kiasu parents )
... has grown to 8.8kg
... likes to sit on the baby scale at the doctors!
... has risen to 74cm or approximately 2ft 5 inches tall
... still got 7 teeth in her little mouth.. but it seems that they are getting sharper!
... learned to show some temper and tantrum.. hmm... :(
... learned to dance (shake her bottom) when watching parts of Sesame Street!
... learned how to use my Logitech MX300 mouse.
... extract keys from the keyboard of my ThinkPad T41 with ease!
... recognizes my car when I return home from work.
... gotten used to our new maid. Yes, we now have more help.
... looks a lot different since Day 1!

Hmm.. She's a little unwell this week. phlegm.

We love the little one. :)

Toothbrush set

Samantha now has 7 little teeth! 4 on top, 3 on the bottom!

We though that it was time to graduate her from her previous tooth-cleaning-accessory (washtowel) to a Trainer Toothbrush Set! Here's what it looks like.

There are 3 stages to this set. The first stage consist of the white brush with a soft rubbery (spiked?) head. It looks deceiving, like an ancient weapon or mace, but it is really soft! Plug in the circular guard to prevent choking, and it's ready for any little one.

How did it go? Well.. let's just say that it was really difficult to take it away from her the first few times! We brush her teeth (more like massaging the gums) at bathtime. She then decides to take over herself and starts to gnaw it! hehe.

*munch munch munch*

I guess it's a relief for her itching gums and emerging teeth.
So cute...

Stage 2 may begin sooner than I expect. Look forward to another mini review then!

Christmas is around the corner!

Well.. Christmas is just around the corner! Well, technically it's more than a month away but this hasn't stopped department stores and shopping complexes from putting up Christmas decorations the minute after Deeparaya (Deepavali and Hari Raya merging) this year!

Here's Samantha and Melissa (aka supermom) at Sunway Pyramid. We were walking about the Pyramid and decided to take a look outside. Inside, many workers were rushing to put up some Looney Tunes Themed Christmas decor. Samantha got a kick out of the huge Tweety poster setup! hehe

Meanwhile outside, we saw this roundabout setup! *click* and here's the photo!

Christmas is just around the corner. It's gonna be the Little One's first Christmas!
What an exciting time it will be...
There, see how excited she is when she is around the christmas spirit :p

Now... where are all the Christmas songs!

10 Months and counting

She's reached double digit growth! 10 months to the day! How fast time flies. From Day 1...

till Month 10...

What do you think?

New words..

We're hearing new words (sounds) from the Little One.
"whoa" when she was at Ikano
"bubble" when she was babbling
"mum" when she was hungry.. really hungry
"bao bao bao bao..." when babbling... or is she saying baby? :)
"boo" when she was tinkering with things that she was not supposed to play with
"oh", "wa", "beh" and other various sounds when she's biting her doggie.

She's rather 'talkative' and her vocabulary is increasing...

First Steps!!

Yesterday she took her first steps! All by herself! 5 little steps to move from the middle of the play area to the sofa! WOW!!!

Today, she went a little further, 8 steps to cross 3 alphabets (approx. 3 feet).

She starts with tiny steps then slightly longer steps before reaching Mommy at the other side of the play area! WOW!!!

Hooray for Samantha!
The mobile little one now...

Little Traveller... KL Tower (2)

Postcard anyone?

Doggy! Aaaarrrhh.... busuk busuk!

Yummy!

Little Traveller... KL Tower review

Here's another episode of the Little Traveller! Last weekend we were at the KL Tower! The tallest tower in Malaysia and the 4th tallest communications tower in the world! Here are the pics...

421 meters below the top. Samantha and Melissa.

So that's where they keep all my future money (looking at Menara Maybank).

Everything looks so small from up here!

Looking unimpressed with the Petronas Twin Towers! Hahaha..

One for the album!

Bouncing Gym Ball!

She's really getting a kick out of the big purple gym ball that we have. She used to be sooo small next to it, but now our little one has grown up (a bit) and can stand next to the ball, using it as support! Sometimes when she's frustrated a little, she'll hit it. Sometimes the ball rolls back towards her and gives her a little scare! hehe.

This shot was taken just after she had a hearty, full bellied laugh, when I was bouncing the gym ball on the floor. Ha ha ha... I thought she'd get a tummy ache from all that hard laughing! Now.. to find out how to put videos in this blog.

She's also getting naughty now. Showing tantrums and anger when she doesn't get what she wants or when interrupted in the middle of her plans. We now have to put extra safety measures around the house as she is mobile now. She likes to crawl up to the cabinets and TV and even play around with the speaker volume nobs on the compo!

Samantha, when you grow up, you'll see this! - Daddy. Posted by Picasa

Little Traveller... KLCC review

Here's a recent trip to Suria KLCC, the shopping complex at the based of the Petronas Twin Towers, the second tallest building in the world! Malaysia Boleh! Okay, okay.. I'm doing my little bit of patriotic duty. (I wonder if Google Ads will pick this up and display some relevant ads) hehe.

KLCC was all decorated for the Deepavali and Hari Raya celebrations.

One another note, Samantha seems to be inclined towards music. We recently went to a music store to check out some guitars and the helpful sales guy played a little tune on the guitar and even the keyboards. Samantha had that open mouth expression of amazement. Or maybe it was just looking at someone new. Hmm.. something to plan for the future.

Photo updates!

I've updated a few past entries with photos! Finally got them off my Ixus and onto the blog! Do check them out and let me know what you think.
More photos! Hooray!

With a strawberry hairclip. Hmm.. not much hair to clip now :)

Young Explorer!

She had her second swim at my brother's condo pool! This time we didn't have her tweety bird float so I had to be her floatation device as we swam in the big pool!

Fascinated with push toys!
How do I look in my new swimsuit?

There's so much water...

Also, her cousin has lots and lots of toys! My mom kept showing her toys to play with and she couldn't stop exploring! The little one really likes to explore! Her stroller is aptly named CitiSport EDT (Explore Discover Together!)

She now also has a favourite ramble.. something that sounds like ba or bub (as in bubble). :) Occassionally she says 'mum' or even 'mummy'.

Time to get her into some photo or baby contests!! She's a winner in my books :)

Clapping, pointing and assisted walking!

You lookin' at me?

This week she's learnt how to clap (more like putting hands together) and point to things she wants! Cool!

She's also playing with a new toy, a rocket like musical toy from Vtech. 3..2...1... Blastoff! Pop! and 5 little blocks come out from the bottom! She can explore music, shapes, numbers, sounds, etc from this little toy!

What a blast :) hehe

She can now 'walk' along when we hold both her hands up. Somehow little ones like to push children chairs to walk.. hmm.. her Disney Tomo walker should be quite useful from now on. See pics from last week.

Cheers!
